Pregnant Woman, Unborn Child Die In Traffic Crash

Tragedy abounds when it comes to serious motor vehicle accidents. The injuries can be life-altering and death is common, especially in high-speed collisions or those with much larger and heavier semitrucks.

On a recent Saturday morning, a horrific accident occurred in Chino Hills on the 71 Freeway. The crash took the life of a 35-year-old woman. The woman, who was from Ontario, was killed when a BMW slammed into the back of the woman’s Hyundai sedan. That collision sent the Hyundai into the back of a pickup. The crash ended when the pickup truck rear-ended a milk tanker truck.

The woman was six months pregnant. The woman and her unborn child died at Pomona Valley Medical Center, according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) press release the following Monday.

The pickup truck driver was also injured and received treatment for injuries described as “minor.”

The collision occurred when traffic began to slow and back up when the lanes near Butterfield Ranch Road merged. Many crashes occur on interstates and freeways when traffic slows due to other crashes, weather and more. Distracted drivers don’t realize that traffic is slowing in front of them. Rear-end collisions can cause significant injuries, including serious head, neck and back injuries.
