Car accidents take place all the time, but you don’t usually think that they’ll happen to you or a loved one. When they do, your life can be thrown into disarray as you try to put back together the pieces, get medical help and arrange your finances. When you lose a loved one or suffer life-changing injuries because of a driver’s negligence, seeking compensation is one way you can balance your financial burdens. While this won’t change what has happened, it can make the transition back into your daily life a little easier.
You may think that you can only make a claim when you’re hurt in a multi-vehicle accident, but if the driver of your vehicle made a bad decision, you may be able to seek compensation from his or her insurance or him or her directly, too. That might happen in this case, where the family of a girl who was killed and several families of other teens are facing the reality of a serious car crash.
In this case, a 19-year-old has been charged with a driving under the influence charge for an accident that caused a rollover crash, the death of a 14-year-old child and injuries to several others. The news reports that the teen was held on bail but released since evidence had not been presented to keep him detained.
The story reports that the 14-year-old girl was killed when the driver lost control, hit a curb and rolled the vehicle. It’s already known that the driver was speeding when he hit the curb and a large brick mailbox. Three girls and two boys were injured in the collision as well.
